JJJJound New Balance 1890

Our latest New Balance collaboration features the 1890, a silhouette the studio is drawn to for its lines and 90s sports energy.

It offers a technical yet modern shape to work from. The approach was to fit the model within our JJJJound ecosystem, as a year round wearable option.

Two colorways are introduced as opposing expressions of the same form. One references American collegiate athletics, while the other focuses on contrast and restraint. Together, they show how a single silhouette can shift through color and context without changing its role.

We made this colorway to position the 1890 as a timeless classic. The silhouette is defined by its lines and 90s energy.
A black and white palette simplifies the read of the shoe. We chose to contrast the outsole and tongue to introduce a retro reference.

This colorway is a reference to American collegiate campus athletics. The 1890 is a silhouette the studio is drawn to for its 90s feel.
It offers a modern and technical shape to work from, allowing for color contrasts that structure with a familiar heritage reference.
